Definition

University of Education

  • Universities focused on educational science and teachers' training.
  • In contrast to Universities of Applied Sciences, Universities of Education are entitled to grant degrees at both the doctoral and postdoctoral level (Habilitation).
  • Many have been integrated as departments in bigger universities, but there are still some remaining, especially in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

    • Universitäten, die sich auf Bildungswissenschaften und Lehrer/innenausbildung spezialisiert haben.
    • Im Gegensatz zu Fachhochschulen, sind Pädagogische Hochschulen in der Lage, Doktorgrade und Habilitationen zu verleihen.
    • Viele wurden als Fakultäten in größere Universitäten integriert, allerdings gibt es immer noch einige, ganz besonders in Baden-Württemberg.
